The Italian-Peruvian actor Blas Roca Rey will offer the show “Dante – Cinco Cantos del Infierno” this Wednesday April 20 at 8 p.m. at the Pirandello Theater, with free admission.

“Dante – Five Songs of Hell” brings together the five most famous songs of The Divine Comedy: the first, the fifth (Paolo and Francesca), the twenty-sixth (Ulysses), the thirty-second (Conte Ugolino) and the thirty-third, the last. Alternated and enriched by some comments and reflections by Blas Roca Rey.

The show will be accompanied by live music and lasts an hour.

The Divine Comedy is the masterpiece of Dante Alighieri and it is universally regarded as one of the greatest literary works of all time, as well as one of the most important testimonies of medieval civilization; so much so that it is known and studied all over the world.

“It is said that many people in other countries study the language and learn Italian for the sole purpose of reading the text in its original language,” he says. Blas Rock King.

“We will present the true story of Paolo and Francescathe little ‘lies’ told by Dante about Count Ugolin, a monologue I wrote talking with Odysseus in the first person, which gives a different point of view than usual on his famous legend and other little digressions”, he adds.

“The result simply wants to bring Dante’s verses as close as possible to people and, obviously respecting them, make the evening be a bit surprising compared to what one might expect,” he concludes.

He was invited by the Italian Institute of Culture of Limaas part of “Three days with Blas Roca Rey” of the “Italy-Peru Cultural Dialogue” project, which also includes a tribute to the precious theater director, Ricardo Roca Rey (uncle of Blas) and which will take place on April 12 at 11 a.m. at the historic headquarters of the Association of Amateur Artistsin the course of which almost 84 years of uninterrupted work, Don Ricardo Roca Rey, who was one of the founders of the AAA and its director for more than 30 years.

In addition, on April 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Pirandello TheaterBlas Roca Rey will offer a master class aimed at actors, performing arts students and amateurs, entitled “Poetry and verse recitation”.

It will be a little guide to not being afraid of poetry, the reading of which is rather fascinating. During the conference, a parallel will be made with the immense Peruvian poet Cesar Vallejo, with his writing, his desperate and deep verses. And we will also venture to read his words.

Blas Roca Rey graduated from the Silvio D’Amico Academy of Dramatic Art in Rome-Italyin 1982. He is the son of the great Peruvian sculptor Joaquín Roca Rey and nephew of the legendary Peruvian director Ricardo Roca Rey.

He worked continuously in the theater for 41 years. He has filmed films and television series with directors and actors such as Francesco Maselli, Ettore Scola, Gabriele Muccino, Stefania Sandrelli, Amanda Sandrelli, Pierfrancesco Favino, Luca Manfredi and many others.

He has staged great classics such as Shakespeare, Goldoni and pirandello and lots of contemporary theatre. He attended various theater seminars and in the last two years he wrote and told true stories on the radio, rewritten by him, resulting in the book “El mundo de Blas – ordinary magic tales”; currently on sale.

His latest stage show these days was born out of these stories: “The ballad of our wind”, with the great accordionist Ambrogio Sparagna. For the first time, with great emotion, he will perform in his hometown: Lima.
