MEXICO CITY (AP) — Las Vegas will host Maluma and Prince Royce this weekend for the inaugural Rumbazo Festival, celebrated during Hispanic Heritage Month. Natanael Cano, Ivy Queen, Omar APollo and Yendry are also part of the festival lineup arriving at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center.
“We have taken our Latin culture to another level, Rumbazo is no exception,” Maluma said of the festival to be held on Saturday. “We want to do a special event…that we Latinos are very proud to be there in Las Vegas.”
Maluma announced that he will arrive with his entire team, including the dancers, to give a “spectacular” concert to end the festival in style.
“We are going to write history,” he said. “Being the lead artist for this event makes me very happy, very happy, plus it’s Hispanic Heritage Month and being able to celebrate it with the Rumbazo is going to be a night to remember.”
Prince Royce said he was ready for his presentation in the city which he described as magical.
“I think it’s going to be a really fun festival. I love Las Vegas,” he said. “I think we’re in a really good time where there’s a lot of opportunity for Latin music today.”
Royce is in the middle of his classic circuit celebrating 12 years of career, but said Rumbazo will be his only date in Las Vegas.
“Slightly short shows are sometimes more fun because you can energize the audience, sing along to the hits,” he said of his expectations for the evening.
Festival organizer Víctor Juárez was born in Mexico City and immigrated to the United States at age 13, where he grew up in Dallas. Much of his family still lives in Mexico, so he often visits the country. For Rumbazo, with his team, he sought to create an environment similar to that of a Mexican fair, in which several generations coexist and where there is a lot of fun.
The Downtown Las Vegas Events Center space where they will hold the festival is outdoors, but they will have a large marquee and there will also be VIP areas, as well as areas to hang out. The festival will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. and expect between 10,000 and 13,000 spectators.
“We wanted a bit of everything,” Juárez said. “So that all the family and friends can have a good time.”
The organizer has highlighted the food area where you can enjoy a michelada and eat tacos, raspados and popsicles.
“We play with a lot of local cuisine,” Juárez said. “We communicated a lot with many local restaurants and vendors to get them to come.”
