RICHARDSON, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Mavenir, the networking software provider building the future of networks with cloud-native software that runs on any cloud, today announced new initiatives in collaboration with AMD to help network provider communications services (CSPs) transition to cloud-native telecommunications networks.
First, Mavenir and AMD collaborated on Open RAN to develop state-of-the-art radio technology. Mavenir has integrated AMD Zynq™ Ultrascale+™ RFSoC devices into Mavenir’s OpenBeam™ radio portfolio and through this partnership, the two companies continue to work together to bring new functionality, features and capabilities to customers.
Second, Mavenir’s Converged Packet Core has been validated on AMD EPYC™ processors. This means that Mavenir’s cloud-native, fully containerized and virtualized Converged Packet Core (4G and 5G) solution can now be deployed on AMD EPYC server processors to provide CSPs with more options for deploying virtual network functions. on cloud data centers.
Validated items include AMF, SMF, UPF, UDSF, NRF, NSSF, AUSF, UDM, and UDR network functions. In addition, in the coming months, the network functions PCF, NEF, BSF, MME, SecGw, PCRF, MME and SGSN will be validated.
“Mavenir’s commitment to enabling networks built on software that runs on any cloud is to give CSPs the ability to use the best components that meet their specific needs, at the cell site and in the data center,” said Bejoy Pankajakshan, EVP, Chief Technology and Strategy Officer at Mavenir. “Mavenir and AMD are working together to provide CSPs with multiple options and help them optimize power consumption, network efficiency, and total cost of ownership for radio access as well as the core network. »
“Cloud-native telecommunications networks provide CSPs with systems that provide flexibility, lower operating costs, ease of system management, and a broader ecosystem to add value, innovation, and upgrade capabilities to as network demands increase,” said Salil Raje, senior and general vice president. Director of AMD’s Data Center and Communications Group. “We are extremely proud of our close collaboration with Mavenir to help deliver exceptional TCO and predictable scalability as well as high-performance, energy-efficient solutions to telcos using AMD data center products.
Mavenir’s OpenBeam is purpose-built for the growing needs of CSPs with agile, cost-effective, and intelligent radios to meet critical network demands now, and as the network changes and grows. The radio solutions can be used for a wide range of use cases, including basic coverage in all frequency bands, small outdoor cells, for public and private networks serving business and consumer services in urban and rural environments.
Mavenir’s Converged Packet Core is a fully containerized and decentralized wallet that provides multi-generational support for modernizing legacy mobile networks while delivering a cost-effective journey to 5G. Its cloud-native architecture, with applications and services designed specifically for the cloud model, provides easy scaling, hardware decoupling, agility, portability, and resiliency across public, private, and hybrid clouds. Its web-scale, granular microservices architecture addresses carrier-grade requirements such as high availability, security, and performance.
